HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR PLAY
Read the guidelines below. (All playwrights are required to attend the rehearsals and staged reading if their play is chosen!)

Email your script to auditions@musictheatreofct.com with the subject line “2026 MTC Play Submission”.
Plays submitted without entry fee payment will not be read. Deadline is March 1st, 2026.
Staged Reading Performances (All at 8PM)
If your play is selected, you must be available this entire weekend.
-Friday, March 27th
-Saturday, March 28th
-Sunday, March 29th
2026 CONNECTICUT STUDENT PLAYWRIGHTS FESTIVAL GUIDELINES
There is a $25 entry fee for the competition, which must be paid along with the submitted script. Any script submitted without the entry fee will not be considered. A second entry fee must be submitted for a second script.
Submissions that have been previously produced or published will not be accepted. A play that is scheduled for a professional production at the time of submission will also not be accepted. There will be no written or oral critique given on scripts submitted.
Playwrights must be students who attend a high school in the state of Connecticut.
The submission must be written in the English Language.
The submission cannot be a musical, translation, or children’s play.
The submission must be a maximum of 60 pages.
The manuscript must be easy to read with the pages numbered.
The submission must begin with a title page that includes the work’s name and the playwright’s name, address, telephone number, email, and the high school they attend. There should also include a character list and scene breakdown.
The cast for the play must be limited to no more than 6 actors.
The script may have more than one author. Also, the playwright(s) may include a brief biography, but it is not necessary.
We will notify the playwrights whose plays have been selected for readings by February 10th, 2026.
Playwrights are paid a stipend of $100 if their play is chosen.
If a playwright’s play is chosen, they are required to attend both 4-hour rehearsals, the staged reading, and partake in a talkback following the staged reading. Travel will not be covered. All rehearsals and readings take place at Music Theatre of CT, 509 Westport Ave, Norwalk, CT 06851.
Staged Readings occure on the weekend of March 27-29, 2026. You must be available the entire weekend until a specific day is selected for your play.
Plays will be directed by a professional director and read by professional, union actor.
Each playwright is limited to one submission per year. There will be no revision accepted once a script has been submitted.
