"Always…Patsy Cline" is more than a tribute to the legendary country singer who died tragically at age 30 in a plane crash in 1963. The show is based on a true story about Cline's friendship with a fan from Houston named Louise Seger, who befriended the star in a Texas honky-tonk in l961, and continued a correspondence with Cline until her death.
The musical play, complete with down home country humor, true emotion and even some audience participation, includes many of Patsy' unforgettable hits such as Crazy, I Fall to Pieces, Sweet Dreams and Walking After Midnight…27 songs in all. The show's title was inspired by Cline's letters to Seger, which were consistently signed "Love ALWAYS… Patsy Cline."
Becky Barta (Louise Seger) New York: Broadway's LES MISERABLES (Mme Thenardier), several seasons as Mrs. Claus in the RADIO CITY CHRISTMAS SPECTACULAR, FRANKENSTEIN (cast recording), MEET ME IN ST. LOUIS, STIFF, SESSIONS, several editions of FORBIDDEN BROADWAY and ALWAYS, PATSY CLINE, in which she performed (on different nights!) both roles. Her long history with APC includes over 27 different productions across the country as either Louise, Patsy, or most recently, associate director. Her CD, CRAZY AND THEN SOME celebrates this genre of music which she recorded with husband, bassist, David Sonneborn.
Mia Scarpa (Patsy Cline) is thrilled to return to MTC after appearing as Marian and Others in The Bridges of Madison County in 2017. Mostly recently, Mia appeared in the ensemble of Evita at ACT of CT. Other credits include Hello, Dolly! (Dolly Levi), The Taffetas (Kaye), Anything Goes (Erma), Man of La Mancha (Aldonza), and Fiddler on the Roof (Fruma-Sarah). Many thanks to the creative team, and love and gratitude to Dad, Mom, Gina, and Michael. @therealmiagab
