Keep the Arts Alive in Connecticut – Help Us Reach $35,000 Before December 31

As of 12/23 we have raised $27,710!

2025 has been an extraordinary year for Music Theatre of Connecticut, with two Connecticut Critics Circle Awards for Master Class and White Christmas and 18 BroadwayWorld Award nominations, with winners announced in January. Yet, the reality is clear: arts organizations nationwide are facing unprecedented challenges, and MTC is no exception. A restructuring of NEA federal and state funding led to a $50,000 MTC shortfall this year. While our capital campaign has allowed exciting improvements like a renovated lobby and an upcoming cabaret space, we must urgently continue to keep the lights on, maintain our high artistic standards, offer affordable tuition and ticket prices, and serve our students, artists, and community.

Tax laws regarding charitable donations are changing in 2026!

Important Information on Tax Deductions

When you make a charitable donation to Music Theatre of CT before December 31st, you may be eligible for valuable tax deductions:

  • You can combine several years' worth of contributions into 2025 and itemize if the total is greater than the standard deduction.

  • Donor Advised Fund donations can be made without needing to itemize.

  • Appreciated stock and non-cash assets can be donated directly to Music Theatre of CT - and you can deduct the market value and avoid capital gains tax.

  • If you are 70.5 and older, you and/or your spouse can donate directly from your IRA. These gifts are excluded from your taxable income and can help satisfy your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD).
