Dear MTC Audience and Family,

The safety and wellbeing of our audience, artists, staff, and students are the highest priority at MTC. As we all continue to monitor the novel coronavirus COVID-19, we want to make you aware of the measures we have implemented to safeguard the health of those visiting, seeing a production or taking class at our facility.

We are increasing our disinfection practices. In our theatre and public spaces, we are now wiping down all surfaces (including seat armrests, railings, door handles, sink faucets, etc.) with disinfectant several times daily including before and after every performance or class. We will make tissues available in the lobby.

We are following the guidelines from the CDC and the Norwalk Health Department as we all stay informed about the current situation. We encourage everyone to follow the guidelines from the CDC. In addition, All students attending class will wash their hands as a group activity both before and after class.

As the situation evolves, we will continue to keep you informed. If you have any questions about our preparations around this or any other public health issue, please feel free to reach out to us at admin@musictheatreofct.com.

Best,
Kevin, Jim and the entire MTC Staff

Dear MTC Students and Families,

Due to Westport Public School’s recent decision to close and cancel all schools and events we have been getting many questions as to what our own plan is. MTC traditionally follows Norwalk Public Schools (NPS) in terms of snow days and other cancellations and therefore we will be following their lead in this case as well. As of now we will be holding all classes today, March 11th, as regularly scheduled. Tomorrow, March 12th, NPS has cancelled school in order to “…provide the necessary time and coordination to prepare student materials...if a closure becomes required.” (Click HERE to see their full statement) Due to their cancellation, we will also be cancelling all classes and rehearsals tomorrow, March 12th. Please know that NPS is cancelling in order to prepare should they need to close schools in the near future, not because of any kind of exposure.

Should NPS make an announcement regarding cancellations, we will most likely follow their lead. Either way, we will send out an email if there are any changes in our schedule. To reiterate: we will be holding classes today, March 11th. We will not be holding classes and rehearsals tomorrow, March 12th. We have no plans on any further cancellations.

In addition to all of this, please do not send your child to class if they are feeling unwell. Their safety and the safety of all our students and families is of the utmost importance. We completely understand if you do not feel comfortable bringing your child to class and we just request that you let us know so their teacher can be informed ahead of time. If there are any questions please don’t hesitate to ask.

Best,
Kevin, Jim and the entire MTC Staff
