Theatre Playground 

This class allows young actors to take their first steps into performing in a low-pressure, safe environment that will empower them to continue using their voices and bodies to communicate from center stage. Using children’s stories ranging from familiar fairy tales to modern day youth literature, your child will learn the basics of presenting for an audience, improvising, and acting in character. A fun acting class tailored to young school-aged children where kids will work on classroom skills such as following directions, listening, and working with others in a fun and creative way. The last day of each session is Share Day when student can share an informally staged piece with families and friends. No pre-requisite or placement is required for this course.

Intro to Acting

Students explore acting techniques and build a solid acting foundation by developing listening, interacting and reacting skills, working with scene partners, and taking part in theatre activities as a group. By portraying different characters in all kinds of situations, students discover creativity, imagination and develop a strong foundation as a confident, enthusiastic and skilled actors through scenes, monologues and student-written projects.

Improv Madness!

If your dream is to be on Saturday Night Live, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Whose Line Is It Anyway, or simply to make your friends laugh, this class is for you! Learn the fundamentals of improv techniques made famous by groups like The Groundlings and Second City as you tap your inner Robin Williams in this supportive and fun-filled environment!

MTC Mini Musicals

A low-commitment and fast-paced class for students who can't get enough of their favorite musicals! Each four week session will focus on a different musical! The students will take elements of a musical and incorporate them into a short, abridged piece for an informal performance on the final day! Students must be available all four days of their session.

Musical Theatre

Young performers acquire the skills that will become the foundation for performing in plays and musicals including learning Broadway songs, performing musical and non-musical scenes, and through other solo and ensemble material. Develop a solid acting foundation through character development, improv skills, vocal technique, and staging in this Broadway-bound performance class.

Acting and Musical Theatre

A class to become the ultimate triple threat! Students will continue to learn acting techniques through advanced character building and scene examination. Meanwhile, they will also learn how song and dance can tell a story just as well as dialogue and how to communicate it to an audience. This is a perfect class for aspiring actors who are ready to take their acting and musical abilities to the next level.

Acting for Film & TV

The Film & TV classes teach specific techniques of on-camera performance including acting in commercials, soaps, television series and films by working on-camera each week. Students learn all the steps to a successful film or television audition, including how to improvise, prepare text, memorize quickly and interview well. In addition, students learn the different techniques for commercials, film and television and the difference between live and filmed auditions.

Private Voice 

For the serious young musical theatre singer, MTC offers private study in voice. Lessons are one half hour per week. Students develop a solid vocal technique specifically focused on the requirements for healthy singing in the musical theatre including vocal production, breathing, healthy belting for women, appropriate musical theatre repertoire and audition techniques.

Private Piano 

Focus on technique, basic music theory and comprehensive piano skills while learning classical, jazz and Broadway repertoire. Perfect for all ages, accepting  beginner, intermediate and advanced students.

Student Production Pre-requisites: 

  • Students must be in second grade

  • Students have to be currently registered in a class to participate in a production

  • Students have to have been in class at MTC for one year before auditioning for a production or have director’s approval
