Summer 2010 in Westport
Student Productions at MTC in Westport

From first read-through of the script to opening night in just three weeks! Each show rehearses for three weeks (9:30am - 3:00pm) and culminates in two public performances of a fully-staged, costumed, directed and choreographed production.

The gang's all here for an action-packed summer extravaganza as Troy, Gabriella and the rest of the Wildcats finish junior year and blast onto the summer scene. At the Lava Springs Country Club, Sharpay reigns supreme while the Wildcats get to work - literally! Keeping every ounce of the light-hearted fun that makes High School Musical a household name, this buoyant sequel takes on the questions of real kids facing the realities of the adult world. Friendships are tested, summer romances go haywire, and the meaning of success is redefined.

Pinocchio

Adapted from "The Adventures of Pinocchio" by Carlo Collodi

MTC's own original adaptation follows the mischievous adventures of Pinocchio, an animated marionette, and his poor father, a woodcarver named Gepetto. The MTC version will capture the magic of the original tale while adding a few contemporary twists to keep the story fresh with today's audiences.

New for 2010 - MTC comes to Wilton!
MTC in cooperation with The Wilton Playshop presents
A Musical Theatre/Acting and Scene Study Workshop

Music Theatre of Connecticut School of Performing Arts comes to Wilton Playshop this summer! MTC’s own Mary Jo Duffy teaches the fundamentals of theatre and more in this exciting two-week workshop! Concludes with a showcase performance for family and friends!

Two Weeks: July 26 - August 6
Mondays - Fridays, 10am - 3pm
at Wilton Playshop, Lover's Lane in Wilton
For students entering 7th-10th grade
Tuition: $500
Parents are required to provide a bagged lunch for their child each day.  

Taught by Mary Jo Duffy

  • Performed on Broadway in Senator Joe, as Magnolia in the National and European tours of Showboat and in regional theatres across the country, as well as industrial trade shows and television commercials.
  • Favorite roles include Shelby in Steel Magnolias, Maria in West Side Story, Julie in Carousel and Laurey in Oklahoma.
  • Has trained with Metropolitan Opera singer Mimi Lerner, Lorenzo Malfatti and Margaret Ross at Chatham College, Beatrice Krebs at Carnegie-Mellon University and Tony McDowell in NYC.
  • Has directed musicals at the Fraser-Woods School in Newtown and other schools.
  • Teaches musical theatre, drama, and private voice, and has been on the MTC faculty since 2003.
  • Member AEA, SAG.
