Musical Theatre/Acting and Scene Study Workshop
Taught by Mary Jo Duffy
Two Weeks: July 26 - August 6

Mondays - Fridays, 10am - 3pm
at Wilton Playshop on Lover's Lane in Wilton
For students entering 7th-10th grade
Tuition: $500
Parents are required to provide a bagged lunch for their child each day.

Workshop students will learn basic acting technique through a series of theatre games and improvisations, integrating elements of scene study such as physical action, scene analysis, character study and development.  Each day will begin with a group warm-up, improvisational exercises, and theatre games. As the workshop progresses, students will then be assigned scenes from selected classical and contemporary works, where they will learn how to build a character working with one to two partners on a specific scene.

In addition to acting work, students will also develop skills in musical theatre techniques, including vocal production and basic dance movement; and all will participate in fully-staged group musical numbers from the classic American Musical Theatre.

The culmination of this workshop will be a “scene night” where students will present their work, musical as well as dramatic scenes, for an audience of family and friends on the last night of the workshop.
